While it was busy when we walked in, the tables turn over quickly and there’s a walk-up counter easily available for take away. We had no problem grabbing a table for 2. The coffee is so well done and the egg scramble with chorizo on sourdough was absolute perfection.
Very small but cozy place. We were lucky to get a table as there were so many people queueing. Food was good, the coffee was even better!
Stopped for breakfast and we weren’t disappointed. Cakes and pastries looked amazing too but we were stuffed from our eggs as a surprisingly large portion. It’s a very small, quite cramped space so not suitable for groups. We were lucky to get a spot for the two of us!

A great little coffee shop with small to medium bites to eat. The coffee itself is nice (we had a mocha and flat white) but the food is where the store shines. The chorizo and egg on sourdough was rich, and their pastries are really nice. The staff is friendly. It does get busy quickly, and there is limited seating, so you might need to grab and go. Definitely the best breakfast in Portree.
Stopped by this little cafe for a hot drink and a slice of cake and wowers, did it not disappoint. This place serves delicious coffees; flat white, espresso and cortado. For food, there’s a nice range of tasty cakes, sourdough toast and scrambled eggs. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The vibes are very Scandinavian and as a cozy atmosphere to it.
Great coffee - I had an oat milk flat white and it was so refreshing to have a nice coffee on the road after camping for some time! A hard come-by these days so quite a nice experience.
I had breakfast at Birch Cafe on a Monday and got there right at 8 am. There was already a line and some tables were taken. We were able to grab two seats but it was steadily busy and full until 8:30 am. There are a lot of coffee drinks, pastries, and sweet and savory breakfast items to order. We got a cappuccino, mocha, sourdough with scrambled eggs and chorizo, focaccia with house made hummus, and a bunch of pastries. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was great. This is a worthwhile stop in Portree.
